About Courage Magazine

Courage Magazine is the official publication of RCCG Women, providing information and perspectives on current issues affecting Christian women.

Published quarterly, the magazine is currently primarily print-based, with plans to expand its presence into digital publishing.

We are looking for a capable and committed Journalist & Editorial Officer to join the team and contribute to the day-to-day production of the magazine.

About the Role

This is an opportunity for a journalist who enjoys more than simply writing stories. The successful candidate will contribute across the editorial and publishing process, from researching and writing stories, covering events and conducting interviews to editing and proofreading content, helping plan magazine issues and working with designers and other contributors to prepare content for publication.

You should be comfortable moving between the newsroom and the field, between writing your own stories and improving the work of others, and between the editorial and production sides of magazine publishing.

What You Will Do

Your responsibilities will include:

Researching and writing articles, features, reports, profiles and interviews.
Covering events and producing accurate, engaging reports.
Conducting interviews and gathering information from appropriate sources.
Editing and proofreading articles and complete magazine content.
Fact-checking names, dates, quotations and other information.
Contributing story ideas and participating in editorial planning.
Helping coordinate content for each quarterly issue.
Reviewing magazine layouts and proofs for editorial accuracy.
Working with graphic designers and other production personnel.
Taking photographs at events when required.
Supporting the overall quality and timely production of the magazine.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who has:

Professional experience in journalism, publishing, editorial work or a related field.
Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills.
Strong command of written English.
Good research and fact-checking abilities.
An understanding of journalistic ethics and professional standards.
Experience covering events and producing publishable reports.
Good organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
Basic practical photography skills.
Sufficient understanding of magazine production to work effectively with designers and supervise the editorial aspects of layout.

A degree or HND in Journalism, Mass Communication, English, Communications, Publishing or a related discipline is desirable but not mandatory.

Experience with magazines, newspapers, publishing, Christian media or similar editorial environments will be an advantage.

A portfolio of published work will be highly valued.
